Helping Rural Communities Access the Internet
NODA’s leadership quickly realized the need to expand their technological capacity. This would include assisting rural areas and businesses to complete in the global marketplace with affordable, reliable and high-speed internet services. In April 2002, NODA entered into the Internet business by creating NODAnet. NODAnet provides broadband internet to individuals, families and businesses in rural areas/small cities and thereby improve their quality of life.
Through a system of cells located primarily on grain elevators NODAnet provides internet service in several cities/towns including the City of Enid, spread out over 2,500 square miles.
Connecting rural communities to the Internet opens the door to e-commerce and other forms of high-speed communications enabling citizens to compete for jobs and gain information about their community and the world around them.
